Rigging and Lifting (Basic)

Target group This lifting and rigging training is intended for: riggers, deck crew, construction, maintenance and mechanical technicians/supervisors and crane operators.
Prerequisites There are no pre-requisites.
Objectives On completion of this course the learner will be capable of:

  • Being aware of the statutory requirements, regulations and approved codes of practices regarding rigging equipment together with the learners obligations to Site Safety
  • Identifying basic equipment used in rigging
  • Using basic items of rigging equipment safely and effectively
  • Selecting and using the correct equipment for the task
  • Inspection and use of different types of lifting equipment
  • Calculations required in rigging to include weight calculation, required angles, how to use sling charts
  • Tying knots, bends and hitches
  • Lifting safely both out of balance loads, balanced loads and tandem
  • lifting.
